Pitney Bowes USA began in 1902, when Arthur Pitney created his very first postage stamping machine, and together with Eugene A. Rummler, the Pitney Postal Machine Company began. In 1908, Walter Bowes setup the United States Postal Service in the USA offering his stamp-canceling machines. However, it wasn’t until 1920 when Arthur Pitney and Walter Bowes decided to merge and create Pitney Bowes Postage Meter Company. The goal was simple, create a machine that used both Arthur Pitney’s postage stamping machine and Walter Bowes stamp-canceling machine.

Ever since the merge, Pitney Bowes has become a global success in the franking machine industry and mail room equipment industry. Pitney Bowes decided to move into other industries in the 1970s, and they started to offer copy machines, and various other mail room equipment products. Now, in 2014, Pitney Bowes are the world’s leading franking machine supplier and they now offer many other mail room products including: folding inserting machines, Geolocation software, document composition, and more.

Pitney Bowes has manufactured many franking machines since they began in 1902. Now, in 2014 they can offer you a large range of franking machines, helping to suit all businesses.
